What Are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are a variety of resurfacing treatments available at Hera Beauty & Wellness to help rejuvenate your skin. With options ranging from superficial peeling to deeper exfoliation, chemical peels effectively address hyperpigmentation, signs of aging, and skin texture concerns. By removing the outer layers of the skin, these peels reveal a refreshed and healthier complexion, promoting a youthful and radiant appearance.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

During a chemical peel procedure, a carefully chosen chemical solution is applied to the face, neck, and decolletage. This targeted application causes controlled injury to the epidermis and, in deeper peels, the Upper and Mid Reticular dermis. By selecting the appropriate level of peel for your skin, chemical peels can effectively address concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation, and age spots.

One of the significant advantages of chemical peels is the stimulation of collagen production, which can lead to skin tightening and reduction of hyperpigmentation. Even individuals with melasma can benefit from the chemical peel treatments available at our Westlake Village practice.

Benefits of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels offer a wide range of benefits that can enhance the health and appearance of your skin. Here are some key advantages of receiving chemical peels in Thousand Oaks:

Treatment of skin concerns

Chemical peels can address various skin concerns, including hyperpigmentation, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. By exfoliating the damaged skin layers, chemical peels reveal a smoother, more even complexion.

Skin rejuvenation

Chemical peels effectively rejuvenate the skin by removing the outer layers, promoting the growth of new, healthy skin cells. This helps to improve skin tone, texture, and overall radiance, giving you a more youthful and refreshed look.

Collagen stimulation

Chemical peels stimulate collagen production, a key protein that provides structure and elasticity to the skin. Increased collagen production can help tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and improve overall skin firmness.

Improved skin texture

Chemical peels can significantly improve skin texture by reducing the appearance of roughness, acne scarring, and uneven skin tone. The exfoliation process promotes the growth of fresh, healthy skin cells, resulting in a smoother and more refined complexion.

Chemical Peel Treatments We Offer

At Hera Beauty & Wellness, we offer a range of chemical peels to address various skin concerns. The type of peel recommended depends on factors such as the extent of damage, your skin type, and your desired downtime. Here are the different types of chemical peels we offer:

Superficial Peels: These peels exfoliate the topmost layer of the skin, refreshing it and treating mild sun damage. They require minimal downtime, with patients experiencing light peeling for 2-3 days. Our recommended peel for this category is the VI Peel, which effectively removes sun damage, treats acne, and improves pores. Superficial peels can be repeated every 3-4 weeks.

Medium Depth Peels: Designed for sun damage, scarring, folds, and significant wrinkles, our 20% or 30% TCA peels penetrate to the Immediate Reticular Dermis (IRD) level, producing noticeable changes. Numbing and postoperative antibiotics are required for this peel. Recovery typically lasts 1 week, and preparation with Retinoic acid and Hydroquinone cream is necessary for 4 weeks prior to the peel.

Deep Peels: Reserved for the face, deep chemical peels penetrate multiple layers of the skin using phenol. They yield the most dramatic results but come with higher risks. Deep peels may be recommended for deeper wrinkles, scars, and precancerous growths. Recovery can last upwards of 3 weeks.

Our expert team will guide you in selecting the most appropriate chemical peel based on your specific concerns and goals.
